How this rhyme dictionary works

Every word in our database is mapped to its pronunciation using the CMU Pronouncing Dictionary. Words are grouped by the sounds from their last stressed vowel onward: if two words share that ending sound, they are perfect rhymes. That is why “knight” rhymes with “write” and “cough” does not rhyme with “though”: pronunciation over spelling. The same engine powers The Rhyme Game, so every rhyme you find here is a legal move there.

One honest limit: a dictionary helps you write. What breaks first in freestyling is retrieval: you know “flow” goes with “grow”, but pulling it inside one second is a different skill, and it only grows out loud, on a beat. When you want that, play the game: same rhyme families, a ball marking every beat, optional mic scoring on the drop. The weekly chart shows which beats players actually drill these words on.

Frequently asked questions

What rhymes with game?

“Game” has dozens of perfect rhymes: same, name, blame, claim, flame, frame, shame, aim, fame, came, became and more. See the full list of rhymes for game, or practice them on beat.

What is a perfect rhyme?

Two words are perfect rhymes when they share every sound from the last stressed vowel to the end of the word, like time and rhyme. This dictionary groups words by pronunciation (not spelling), so the rhymes it lists always land when you say them out loud.

Can I practice rhyming these words?

Yes. That is exactly what The Rhyme Game does. Every result page and popular word below has a “Practice these on beat” button: the game loads that word's whole rhyme family as word cards, and you land each rhyme right on the beat. Free, no sign-up.
