Search for The Rhyme Game today and you get two different games sharing one name. One is a mobile app by Creative Rhythm, free to download, with a subscription that unlocks its full library. The other is this site: a completely free browser game built for freestyle practice.
We are independent projects, and this page lays the differences out honestly. Everything about the app is quoted from its own FAQ and store listings as of September 2026. Sources sit at the bottom.

What the app does well
Credit where it is due. The app is a polished native install with a guided tutorial that walks a first-timer into a real game in minutes. Its difficulty system is genuinely thoughtful: rhyme schemes from AABB up to AAAA, and fill modes that taper from showing every rhyme word down to a blank grid, so the game grows with you. It also tracks day streaks, and its content filter for kids and classrooms is a good idea we do not offer. With 100,000+ downloads on Google Play, plenty of people enjoy it. If you want an installable app with a walkthrough and do not mind a subscription for the full library, it is a fair pick.
What this site does that the app does not
Free means everything here. Not free-to-start. All 150+ beats, every session length, the mic scoring, the practice stats. No account, no trial, nothing to unlock. The app's own FAQ describes Rhyme Game Unlimited as the subscription that unlocks its full beat library and word lists; this site simply has no paywall to compare it to.
The mic is the referee. Turn it on and an on-device speech detector times the moment each word leaves your mouth: within 160 ms of the drop is a hit, 55 ms or better reads Perfect. Your result reads like 12/16 bars plus your average milliseconds off the drop. Nothing is recorded, nothing leaves your device. The app, per its own FAQ, does not listen at all, so its scores are the honor system.
Your own music, from a link. Paste any YouTube or SoundCloud URL and the analyzer reads the tempo and drop point, then fits the ball and the words to your track. The app's Tap Mode follows a rhythm you tap out by hand, which works for a song playing in the room but does not sync the game to the actual recording. One Google Play reviewer asked for exactly that, writing they felt "stuck with the ~16 beats given to us." Here, link import has been a core feature from the start.
Phone play without an install. Open the site, press Play, the first beat starts in seconds. The app's browser version is built for desktop, and its FAQ points phone users to the app store instead.
You can send a fight. Finish a run, hit "Challenge a friend," and one link carries your exact beat, word list and difficulty. They play the same setup, you compare bars landed. The app's site mentions nothing like it.
Which one did you see on TikTok?
Both games have clips going around: the format looks similar at a glance, since both put rhyme words on a beat with a bouncing ball. The tell is where it runs. A clip played in a browser tab is this site; a clip showing a phone app with a five-bar word grid is theirs.
